HOW TO REACH THE BODRUM PENINSULA

BY CAR : There are many possible ways to get to Bodrum. The roads are generally tarred and in fair condition. However extreme caution must be taken while driving in Turkey.

Most of the roads are not fenced off and villages and town are located in close proximity to main roads, therefore it is highly possible to encounter problems. When you reach Istanbul, You can get on to the fast ferry that operates between Yenikapi / istanbul and Bandirma.

The trip is 1h45m. From Bandirma, the route to follow is respectively ; Balikesir, Manisa, izmir, Soke, Milas and finally Bodrum. The distance is approx. 800 km.

BY BUS : There are many bus operating companies that have regular services to and from Bodrum. The fare is inexpensive and the ride is very comfortable in fully air-conditioned buses.

However the fare varies according to the standards and the quality of the operator. The journey is about 8h 30min from Istanbul and about 4h from izmir.

BY SEA : Coming from Greek Islands ; There are ferries between operated by ferry companies;
Chios (GR) - Cesme (TR), Lesbos (GR) - Ayvalik (TR), Samos (GR) - Kusadasi (TR), Kos (GR) - Bodrum, Rhodes (GR) - Bodrum and Marmaris (TR), Bodrum Ferryboat Association has daily trips between Kos and Bodrum throughout the summer.

In winter, ferries run three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The ferryboat leaves Bodrum at 09:00 and returns from Kos at 16:30. The Bodrum - Kos trip takes about 2 hours. The same association also runs a hydrofoil during the summer months everyday except Sunday.

There are sea trips from Bodrum to (Knidos), Didim and Dalyan. Ferryboat and sea busses leaves from Main Harbour, Ferryboat and Hidrofil (Kos, Rodos, Datca, Didim),

BY AIR : There are many airlines that have direct flights to Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya and domestic airlines have regular flights to and from Bodrum. The newly opened Milas Bodrum airport is about 40 kms to downtown Bodrum.

The flight from Istanbul to Bodrum takes about an hour. Milas Bodrum Airport is 30 kms to the city center. Transport is made by THY services, taxi and dolmushes.
