Another waterfront area in the Mazi region is Hurma ‘Date’. The Hurma seaside of the Gokova Gulf is for those seeking a quiet and calm holiday place as its weather not humid throughout the year, it is covered with citrus, olive and pine trees and its sea is very clean.
If you get to the top of ‘Gozyasi Magarasi’ ‘Cave of Tears’, where legend has it the Knights of St John dug into the cave and hid their pots of gold, you can have an overall view of the area. Another rock site is the ‘Kayik Kayalar’ ‘Caique Rocks’ at the entrance of the cove.
Opposite is the inlet called Viking Canyon, where there is a beautiful sand beach where you can swim for free. One characteristic of the coves of Ilgin, Sedef and Kargili, which are to the left of Hurma, is that cold water bubbles up with the seabed.
In this area, which is a protected natural site, you have many walking paths. You can visit the coves of Ilgin, Sedef, Kargili, Cokterme and Kisebuku by hiring a boat.
